“Through collaboration within the partnership all agencies share knowledge and resources, to identify and protect victims and individuals at risk, and to pursue and hold accountable those who commit crimes.”
James Smith, Detective Inspector, South Yorkshire Police. Chair and Partnership Co-ordinator
Modern Slavery is an umbrella term for activities involving the exploitation of person(s) for the benefit of others; it includes, slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking.
Organised Immigration Crime is a collective term for the activities of criminal networks who facilitate or assist the illegal entry of persons into or out of the UK, in contravention of immigration laws. This activity is often referred to as ‘people smuggling’ and the criminal networks involved will conduct this for significant financial gain. The activity involves a significant risk to the person travelling which could result in the loss of life.
We are a group of statutory and non-statutory organisations which meet on a voluntary basis to ensure South Yorkshire is a place of safety for survivors, a hostile area for those who exploit others and a leading influence on national priorities relating to modern slavery, human trafficking and Organised Immigration Crime.
Resources and training are available to equip frontline professionals, those working in the community, and the public across South Yorkshire, with the knowledge of what modern slavery, human trafficking and organised immigration crime is and the confidence to respond appropriately.
