Improve partnership working across South Yorkshire.
The Partnership is funded by the South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner and was founded by the South Yorkshire Police, Ashiana, City Hearts and the Snowdrop Project – three charities who provide the majority of support for survivors of modern slavery in South Yorkshire. The Partnership was established as these organisations recognised that modern slavery is a pervasive crime which cannot be tackled by one organisation or individual, only by working in partnership can we share information and best practice, reduce the duplication of services and ensure organisations are working together effectively to address modern slavery.
Partnership Chair: Dr Craig Paterson – Department of Law and Criminology, Sheffield Hallam University
Partnership Coordinator: Jennifer Amenos Burr – Ashiana Sheffield
Improve partnership working across South Yorkshire.
Increase awareness of modern slavery and human trafficking.
Improve identification and enhance support for survivors.
Increase detection and prosecution of perpetrators.
The South Yorkshire Modern Slavery Partnership brings together a number of statutory and non-statutory partners from across the county. Each organisation has a different role to play from identifying potential victims, providing them with the support they need or holding those who exploit others to account. Some organisations within the partnership have particular obligations under the Modern Slavery Act and we recognise the importance of working in partnership to ensure national policies are implemented at a regional and local level.
