Anti-Slavery Day – online events



To mark this Anti-Slavery Day (18 October) and engage a wide range of stakeholders, the South Yorkshire Modern Slavery Partnership is hosting three online events, which are targeted at those who live and work in South Yorkshire.

Online events include: 

Modern Slavery as a priority in South Yorkshire

13 October at 13:00-14:00

An introductory session to outline why modern slavery is a priority in South Yorkshire and explore how to spot the signs and respond appropriately.

Speakers include:

A holistic view of supporting Modern Slavery survivors

14 October at 10:00-11:30

In this one-off online event, local services will explore the wide-ranging needs of adult survivors and how specialist services support survivors in South Yorkshire.
Speakers include:

  • Lara Bundock, Snowdrop Project
  • Carita Thomas, Anti Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit (ATLEU)
  • Kirsty Hart, Bright Future programme

Working in Partnership to tackle Modern Slavery: an enforcement perspective

28 October 10:00-11:30 – a closed session for statutory agencies working in South Yorkshire.

To support those working operationally in statutory agencies to understand how their role fits into a broader picture of addressing Modern Slavery, SYMSP is hosting this closed online session.

Who should attend:
Statutory agencies who work with the public, particularly in Housing (standards, homelessness, tenancy & enforcement), Environmental Health (food and animal safety), Trading Standards, Safeguarding, Community Safety, SY Fire, Licensing and Building Planning and Control.
